Gonex Fishing Line Spooler

With fishing season coming up I resuse a few reels for different fish. However I also use different line so this makes changing line a breeze! No more sticks and frustration.

come on, the product surprised my ideas, very easy to change the line of your reels, easy to assemble and use now everything will be easier

This is a great addition for any fisherman that wants to expand their arsenal while making it easy to prepare new reels. I was able to put a new line on two reels within 15 minutes from start to finish. The spool was very secure the entire time and it made me never want to go back to the complicated system without this tool.

I've used a few spoolers before and the Gonex spooler is in the middle ground. It works fine. Some issues but it is a solid build. BTW, most of the other reviews seem to be for waders.General Overview-Rather well finished metal spool holder. Ratchets close onto the spool, and releases with a press of a button. The button may jam at first, but after opening and closing the ratchet a few times, it is smooth.-Tension is not adjustable but works ok. The spool chucks are spring loaded, along with the tension of the closed spool holder. Line does not bite into the already spooled line but is still well tensioned, so it wont catch when casting. It puts just enough max pressure that 6lb line will not break when spooling, possibly 4lbs, which is good enough to maintain tension in reels without the line biting in deeply.-8 angle positions that lock in place. A push switch on the handle allows you to change the angle.-3" max spool length size. Minimum 0", the chucks touch.-3" max reel seat, possibly 3.25" if you adjust a bit.-Comes in 2 pieces. The handle is force fitted with a tapered tip onto the spooling head. Will not fit all the way flush and it is not meant to. Otherwise you can't take it apart. Holds itself in place pretty well. Handle is like a plastic fishing rod with EVA foam. Not metal, but is light and easy to hold.-The rewinder tool kind of works. It is a basic handle with a hex nut embedded on it that fits into the opposite end of the spool chuck. The hex pattern locks it in place with one of the chucks and forces it to turn. It basically has almost no grip on the spool so you will have to make sure there is almost tension on the line. It seems to be meant to respool with loose fishing line and an open bail, rather than pull against drag. It does not move the line side to side as it respools so don't try to unwind too much line. There is also a locking nut that first has to be removed from the handle rod.-Well packaged in dense foam cushioning.-Spool can be vertical if you twist the 2 part handle.Overall, the Gonex is a middle ground line spooler without much frills and whistles. The quality of the construction is good and sturdy. There are similar items at this price point, but the Gonex spooler is functional and durable enough to last in my fishing arsenal.

Excellent spooler and nicely presented. An explanation re tension would have been useful, but great product.

Hello . I've spooled up 3 or 4 reels with the Gonex line spooler & the jury is still out.
I've had birdnests with those reels that I've spooled up with the Gonex line spooler, but it's been P-line mono & I've had frequent problems with this line. I just purchased some additional Sufix mono & took off most all of the P-line & replaced it with the Sufix mono ( which I seem to have better results with ).
I'm actually testing out different brands of line to see what brand works best & thats why its SO IMPORTANT that the tool I use to load my reels is pretty damn good & the Gonex seemed to be the best choice that I saw.
However, I do have a concern about if there is enough tension created as I'm loading the line on my reel , as there is no tension adjustment control.
Should this be an issue ?

I got it ok and finally bought new reel and got to used it ,it worked great really love it would buy again,will also show it to my brothers so they can buy one too

I’ve had large number of fishing reels and loads of spools of fishing line found Gonex spool holder could be wider, and where two parts join be idea to put a thread they slide a lot and the bottom add 2-3inchs to make wlnding reel more easy . Tony

After figuring out how the mechanism works this is a real easy product to use. I especially like the ability to strip line off the reel in order to prepare for new line.
Sturdy construction should allow for years of functionality.

I like the product and it does everything as stated, however, the shipping was very slow.

My husband was surprised at the quality of the Gonex Fishing Line Spooler and how easy it is to use. For 40 years, we have went to the local fishing supply store to have new lines put on our reels, but no more with this product. Easy to use and spools the line perfectly. It even comes in a real nice storage box.

It`s not so easy to use, in my opinion, the handle needs to be longer.

This is a Great idea really helps putting new line on your Reels I had a problem with mine contacted seller and they rushed me out another one 2 days they really care about there product Sent me seveal texts about the problem and took care of it and me... Thats Great today havent used the new one yet but I will ASAP

This item came packaged very well, nothing moved inside the box as the product rests in molded foam. It was easy to put together (about a minute or so) and I spooled two reels very quickly...I recommend this product.

This line spooler works great for spooling up my reels without having to put on a rod to keep line straight and managed.

This tool makes loading fishing line a breeze. The only limitation I see is that the really large filler spools won't fit inside the "jaws" of this tool. It works with both casting or open bail reels. It also applies enough pressure to the loading spool to make spooling easy.

This fishing line spooler is easy to use and holds good tension on the fishing line, which allows a smooth installation of the line on a fishing reel. It is also nice for removing old line from a reel and winding the old line on a spool.

A very simple way to respool my reels. Quick and easy. Will hold any size spool of line.

It does the trick. However, in my opinion, it could use some improvements. My first spool was onto a 200 series bait caster. It worked well until I needed to remove some line because it wasn't spoiling even (not likely this devices fault). The handle's knobs kept falling off while I rewound the line. I tightened them down a few times. The second spooling was onto my 8000 series spinning reel. In my opinion, the reel and spindle are simply too close for the larger spinning reel. In both cases, I found it very difficult to hold the line in order to put tension it while spoiling. I think that a little extra distance between the reel and line would help. I'd also consider one guide to help control the line. The handle could be a little longer as well. Even with these comments, the device works slick and isn't junk. My issues might be self inflicted because I prefer to hold the line with a wet cloth while spoiling.

the spools of line i have holds 1500 yds, on the website had picture it opens to over 5 inches, the tool did not open wide enough

Works great. Saves us from having to use a pencil through the spool every time.
